The Cruise: Day 3 and 4

So, day three of our cruise was spent on Catalina Island. This was one of the most relaxed and laid back days on the trip. We didn't have to get up so early because we could catch the ferry to the island any time. It was very cool looking back and seeing our enormous ship floating just off shore. The island looked totally wild with just this tiny town tucked into the cove. We wandered around for a little while to see what was there. We window shopped a bit and decided to take a boat ride to see what lived under the water there. That was interesting because we definitely saw alot of fish but they were all the ones who had been trained to swim up to the boat because of the food. All the really pretty fish were blocked out and were hard to see because of that. It was mostly just nice to be able to wander around the town and look at everything. It was beautiful weather and even though it felt hot we tried the water on the shore and it was freezing! We went back to the ship early and just hung out. We soaked up the sun on deck until we left for Mexico. Dinner was great that night. It was supposed to be our anniversary night so we went to dinner knowing that our waiters knew it was a special night. Unfortunately, our romantic dinner for two was not to be. Two single, older ladies got sat at our table. They were very friendly but not really welcome. They were traveling with another friend of their's who sounded like she wasn't having fun. Their friend had complained the entire trip about everything and everyone. One of the ladies decided she was going to get drunk and not sober up until the end of the cruise. It was an interesting night to say the least. I'm so glad we don't drink. I couldn't handle acting like that.

We traveled all night and got to Mexico the next morning. James says the dock was just how he expected Mexico to be. We stepped off the boat to Mexican music playing and people hawking junk. :) We took a tour of Ensenada. It was beautiful in a way. The people leading the tour were locals so we got their perspective of their city. They were loyal in a very sad way. They acted like they didn't want to hear about how wonderful America was because they think their city is the best. They love the fact that everyone gets a government issued house that they can pay off in 20 years from their paycheck donations. But, they aren't allowed to move or make improvements until after they've paid it off. They are proud of the casino/resort in the city where all the American's came during the Prohibition. The huge flag in the harbor was the highlight of the tour. The whole thing made me very glad to be an American. We took a cooking class where we were able to make our own lunch, then wandered around and went shopping. It was pretty cool. I think by the last day though, we were ready to come home. We couldn't wait to get back to America and big rooms and no drinking. Our last night was so fun because it was a huge party on the ship. We stuffed ourselves silly in the dining room and then turned in early. It was so nice to be back home! We are already planning our next trip though. We want to go to Alaska and James wants to go to Antarctica, which will cost 8,000 dollars. lol, we'll see. It was a great trip though. Enjoy the pictures!
